30th September, 2009 – Emirates is to offer the shortest journey from the North East to Sydney on its daily service from Newcastle.
From 1st December, 2009, the award-winning airline will introduce a new service from Dubai to Sydney which departs just 75 minutes after the arrival of its flight from Newcastle. With this new, quick connection, the total travel time from Newcastle to Sydney will be 22 hours and 20 minutes, having previously been over 30 hours.
Laurie Berryman, Emirates’ Manager UK North, says: “Australia is a key destination for both business and leisure passengers travelling with us from the North East, and our new Sydney service makes flying Down Under quicker than ever before.”
Earlier this year, Emirates introduced additional services from Dubai to Melbourne and Brisbane, shortening journey times from Newcastle to 23 hours and 25 hours 35 mins, respectively. Emirates’ fourth Australian destination, Perth, is just 20 hours from Newcastle.
